Siemens recognized by General Motors as a 2012 Supplier of the Year Winner

April 8, 2013 - General Motors recognized Siemens’ Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software business unit as one of its best global automotive suppliers on Wednesday, March 13 during its 21st annual Supplier of the Year awards ceremony. The event was held at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History in Detroit.

“The honor of receiving the GM Supplier of the Year award with such consistency is a tribute to our team’s dedication to customer success, and a direct result of our two companies’ close working relationship,” said Chuck Grindstaff, CEO and president, Siemens PLM Software. “We are proud of our partnership with General Motors and look forward to the future as our software technology continues to help GM design, build, and sell the world’s best vehicles.”

Siemens was one of only 83 suppliers recognized by GM who have consistently exceeded GM’s expectations by being innovative, delivering quality products and services on time and by creating outstanding value. This is the fifth time Siemens PLM Software has received the Supplier of the Year award, and the third time in the last four years.

“Siemens helped play a critical role in GM’s success in 2012 through their dedication and commitment to consistently exceed our expectations by being innovative, delivering high quality products and services on time and by creating outstanding value,” said Grace Lieblein, GM vice president, Global Purchasing and Supply Chain. “We are thrilled to recognize Siemens PLM Software, who we consider to be a world-class supplier.”

The Supplier of the Year award is given to less than one percent of GM’s approximately 18,500 suppliers around the world. The winners are recognized for delivering innovative technology, superior quality, timely crisis management and competitive, total-enterprise cost solutions.

Siemens PLM Software supplies General Motors with a comprehensive set of integrated software, services and expertise to help automate their entire product lifecycle process. The offerings in use at GM include, but are not limited to, NX™ software for computer-aided design, manufacturing and engineering analysis, Teamcenter® software for digital lifecycle management, and the Tecnomatix® portfolio for digital manufacturing automation and simulation. All of this software technology helps manufacturing companies make smarter decisions that lead to better products.

The Supplier of the Year winners are chosen by a global team of GM purchasing, engineering, quality, manufacturing and logistics executives.
