March 13, 2013 -- MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. East View is pleased to announce subscription-based access to Intermap Technologies®'s World30 Digital Surface Model (DSM) for the worldwide Academic community.
In partnership with Intermap, East View brings World30 to the market for the first time via subscription-based web services, allowing convenient and cost-effective access to Academic users around the world. This global data set provides seamless, best available surface elevation data with a 30-meter ground sampling distance (GSD) so you can perform more efficient geospatial analyses.
"Since launching NEXTMap World 30, Academic researchers have shown great interest in this new product. East View is skilled with geospatial data AND with serving Academic institutions information via online platforms. We want to do with Intermap World30 what East View has done with the LandScan dataset - get this robust and convenient global data into the hands of as many researchers as possible. This partnership will accomplish that," said Todd Oseth, Intermap president and CEO.
The key benefit of a DSM as opposed to a digital terrain model (DTM) is that it provides heights of features above the ground, enabling line-of-sight and view shed analysis, feature extraction, and canopy heights for industries such as telecommunications, forestry, and aviation. This product can be used for orthorectification, telecommunications, aviation, engineering, conserving natural resources, public works design, firefighting and city planning, to name just a few areas.
"East View is so pleased to offer this authoritative, ever-updated, global dataset from Intermap to our long-standing GIS department and University library markets around the world. East View works with the Intermap data frequently on behalf of our commercial customers and now we can put it in the hands of researchers to further their scholarship," said Kent D. Lee, Founder and CEO of East View.
