8 January, 2013, Brescia, Italy- Gexcel Srl has released a major upgrade to their recently launched R3 Mobile Camera System. This system provides the possibility for any existing Optech Lynx, Riegl VMX and other mobile mapping systems user to freely select and integrate standard and specialty cameras for use to drape the lidar point clouds with color or multispectral camera information.
An important new capability is to directly publish 3D data and Solid Images to the Internet from within the Mobile Camera Software. Solid Images are directly compatible to be viewed, edited and fully worked with in CAD environments. Identify, annotate and save descriptions of features, along with their coordinate location. Fly-through videos can also be generated immediately to AVI, MPEG and all other popular formats, limited only by the codecs available. The software has available modules for camera geometric calibration and boresighting with the lidar sensors, completely independant of the camera or lidar sensor manufacturer. This powerful package answers many of the primary needs to share, review and classify collected data, before further post processing stages.
Gexcel Srl has a rich history spanning more than 10 years of proven fully featured lidar and imagery analysis software packages with the JRC 3D Reconstructor®, completely compatible with all terrestrial, mobile and airborne scanners from manufacturers such as Faro, Leica, MDL, Optech, Riegl, Topcon, Trimble and Z+F. Gexcel Srl is a spin off company of the University of Brescia, established in 2007 from the academic know-how of the University and the applied research achievements of the European Joint Research Centre (JRC), located in Ispra (Italy). Gexcel Srl is proud to support all major standard formats such as the ASTM E57 and LAS.
