Des Plaines, IL -- (November 7, 2012) -- URISA is pleased to announce the availability of the 2013 Vanguard Cabinet application. Submissions from interested young professionals are due on or before December 7, 2012.
URISA’s Vanguard Cabinet was introduced in 2011 as an initiative to engage young GIS practitioners (no more than 35 years of age), increase their numbers in the organization, and better understand the concerns facing these future leaders of the GIS community. The VC is an advisory board made up of URISA young professionals who represent the young membership of the organization. The Cabinet’s mission is to collaborate with URISA’s Board of Directors and Committees in creating and promoting programs and policies of benefit to young professionals. Comprised entirely of passionate young members selected from different geospatial disciplines, the Cabinet aims to position URISA as the center of opportunities for creative young professionals who are committed to improving URISA and the geospatial profession via innovation, collaboration, networking, and professional development.
Clare Brown leads the Steering Committee which supports the Vanguard Cabinet. She noted, “We are very pleased with the accomplishments and enthusiasm shown by the Vanguard Cabinet members since the idea was introduced. The VC members have been engaged and productive and have created an ambitious vision and plan for the future. We invite all young GIS professionals to learn more and consider applying for a 2013 Vanguard position.”
