LONDON, UK – October 31, 2012. PLM Innovation Americas 2012 was hailed as a resounding success by all who attended last week during the inaugural event. PLM Innovation Americas 2012 was held October 25-26 in Atlanta at the Evergreen Marriott Conference Resort. With about 265 delegates, speakers including representatives from 27 sponsor companies, PLM Innovation Americas 2012 is presented by MarketKey, headquartered in the UK, and is the latest addition to the company`s portfolio that includes events PLM Innovation Europe, PLM Innovation Live and Product Innovation (PI).
The PLM Innovation Americas 2012 is North America's only independent and technology agnostic PLM event bringing together senior professionals from Engineering, Design, R&D, and IT to benchmark, network, and identify PLM best practice.
According to Michael Grieves, the PLM Innovation congress is a needed thing as the other events are primary vendor-driven. He adds: “There isn’t an event than this one that basically puts the users in position of talking what they are doing and where they are driving.”
“The PLM Innovation congress is something that I have been excited about because of the level of thought leadership that MarketKey has pulled together – all in one place, all at one time. That gave me opportunities to network with people who have deep experience and an understanding of the challenges that confront the PLM industry,” said Marc Lind, Head of Global Marketing for Aras.
“I have met some very influential people in the area of PLM especially Michael Grieves who wrote the book that started me thinking about PLM. Discussion with Kevin Fowler from Boeing and his presentation were very critical to me because they are using similar products to what is Honda`s using. He was very interested to talk to us as well how we`ve be successful”, said Ron Emerson, Senior Manager Engineering Operations, Honda R&D Americas.
The first-day speakers included: Kevin Fowler, Chief Architect Commercial Airplanes Processes & Tools, The Boeing Company (The sky’s the limit? Reaching for the value of PLM at Boeing Commercial Airplanes); Nathan Hartman, Associate Professor of Computer Graphics Technology, Purdue University (Model-based Collaborative Enterprise: Challenges, Opportunities, and the Future of PLM); and Peter Bilello, President, CIMdata (Evaluating the Tangible Benefits of PLM Can Prove Complex).
The event continued on Friday 26th with more breakout sessions on a number of topics and another group of compelling keynote addresses including: Dantar Oosterwal, President and Partner, Milwaukee Consulting Group (Lean Product Development & Excellence in PLM); Christophe Boudard, PLM Director, The Coca Cola Company (PLM at the World's Biggest Brand); David Karamian, Senior Director, IT, Design and PLM systems, Flextronics (Enabling PLM in the Contract and Electronic Manufacturing Services (CM/EMS)); and Michael Grieves, PLM Author, Consultant, Professor, NASA (A Virtually Perfect Future).
PLM Innovation Americas will return in the fall of 2013 and be produced in conjunction with CIMdata`s PLM Road Map conference.
