Top Knowledge Management Conference, KMWorld 2012, Opens in Washington, D.C., Next Week

KMWorld Conference & Expo is returning to D.C. for a third year after moving from its previous home, San Jose, California, in 2010. Keynotes for this year’s event include John Seely Brown, Lt. Col. David S. Sanchez, David Weinberger, Jeremy Bentley, Patrick Lambe, Gary Klein, Col. Nate Allen, Nancy Dixon, John Handler, David Snowden, and other top KM experts.

MEDFORD, N.J. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — October 11, 2012 — The 2012 KMWorld Conference & Expo ( http://www.kmworld.com/kmw12) will be holding its 16th annual event in Washington, D.C. (October 17–19 at the Renaissance Washington, DC Downtown Hotel). KMWorld is the premier knowledge management conference in the U.S. and several thousand professionals attend the event annually. This year’s opening keynote (Wednesday, October 17, 8:45 a.m.) will be delivered by John Seely Brown, Chief of Confusion, Visiting Scholar at USC, Independent Co-Chairman of the Deloitte Center for the Edge, & Author, A New Culture of Learning: Cultivating the Imagination for a World of Constant Change.

Later, hear from Lt. Col. David S. Sanchez, Deputy PM, USAF Pilot Physician Program, as he explores aligning governance goals with content types and the enterprise managed metadata service. Sanchez will illustrate the challenges of information governance as the USAF begins the process of migrating from multiple knowledge and information management systems to a single knowledge management platform with more than 72,000 site collections.

Thursday begins at 9:00 a.m., with David Weinberger, Senior Researcher, Harvard’s Berkman Center for Internet & Society, Author, Too Big to Know, and Columnist, KMWorld magazine. KMWorld 2012 wraps up with a closing keynote from Dave Snowden, Founder & Chief Scientific Officer, Cognitive Edge. Snowden discusses how enterprises can make KM strategic and how to find the balance between the excessive order and structure of traditional KM and the near anarchy of social computing.
