The announcement was made today at INTERGEO 2012, the world's largest conference on geodesy, geoinformatics and land management.
Inpho 5.5 introduces new techniques specifically designed to manage UAS image characteristics, tackling challenges with camera calibration and image quality. It also features the ability to automatically create an Inpho project from Trimble Gatewing data. As a result, UAS users, particularly Trimble Gatewing customers, will gain access to the high-quality photogrammetric processing that Inpho has offered within aerial survey for more than three decades.
LPMaster is a new Inpho software product supporting laser data production for the Trimble Harrier aerial LiDAR and imaging system. The stepwise software approach simplifies project setup and data handling, from raw laser data to a controlled referenced point cloud or gridded data, for users with any experience level.
"This release brings Inpho's high-quality approach to aerial photogrammetry into new markets and application scenarios," said Katherine Sandford, general manager of Trimble's GeoSpatial Division. "As UAS and aerial LiDAR usage continues to grow, Inpho is well positioned to continue its leadership in aerial photogrammetry."
For existing Inpho users, version 5.5 also provides improvements focused on performance, quality of results and usability. In the new version, users can benefit from shorter computation times and higher throughput which are achieved by extending the number of supported cores from four to eight. Even large projects are now smoothly displayed, leveraging in-memory patch-ortho-mosaics for premium performance. An improved dense matching technique eliminates terrace effects and improves handling of low texture and shadow areas, resulting in increased point cloud quality. New tools and functions for camera calibration, orthophoto display, vector editing and point cloud colorization simplify and enhance Inpho workflows.
With more than thirty years of development and thousands of global implementations, Inpho software is well known for pioneering digital photogrammetry techniques that are today regarded as the industry standard.
Availability
The Inpho 5.5 software suite is available through Trimble's Inpho distribution channels. Customers with a valid maintenance and support agreement will receive the update for Inpho software.
About Trimble's GeoSpatial Division
