Discretix’s field-proven content protection and embedded security solutions now designed to complement the ARM® TrustZone® Ready Program, making it easier for SoC manufacturers and OEMs to deploy these solutions and pass industry certifications
SANTA CLARA, Calif. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — September 19, 2012 — Discretix, the leading provider of field-proven content protection and embedded security solutions today announced that is has joined the ARM TrustZone Ready Program. ARM TrustZone technology is already integrated into major system-on-chip (SoC) platforms and widely deployed on many of the world’s best-selling devices. Discretix’ existing content protection and embedded security solutions are now available and aligned with the program, helping SoC manufacturers and OEMs to accelerate implementation of content protection solutions based on TrustZone.
In order to achieve studio approval for premium HD video, mobile devices require hardware-assisted DRM, video output control, video link protection and a secure content processing path. Such technologies address the inherent vulnerabilities of open operating systems such as Android, thwart scalable attacks and enable cross-device content sharing.
To meet these security requirements a system-wide approach to security is required. ARM TrustZone technology provides an efficient and flexible foundation around which SoC manufacturers are able to construct rich security capabilities into their chipsets. Furthermore, Trusted Execution Environments (such as those specified by industry bodies like GlobalPlatform) are increasingly being integrated in such chipsets to make these capabilities available to 3rd party application developers.
Discretix offers two solutions designed to leverage ARM TrustZone technology:
- CryptoCell® for TrustZone is an embedded security platform for SoC manufacturers, providing all the additional hardware and system building blocks required for high-performance and power-efficient content protection use cases. The product has been developed to integrate with, and take full advantage of TrustZone based hardware security and the associated TEE operating systems that utilize this capability.
- Hardware-assisted content protection utilizing the SoC platform’s TrustZone technology. These solutions allow protected HD video to be viewed on mobile devices and secure content streaming from a mobile device to a large screen TV.
“Consumer demand for HD video content, for which content owners require copyright protection, is the primary driver for robust security on mobile platforms, such as smart phones and tablets,” said Robert Brown, Director of Marketing, Secure Services Division, ARM. “ARM is working with leading suppliers, such as Discretix, to ensure that ARM partners have access to solutions that enable the broad ecosystem to meet future certification requirements and achieve the necessary security measures.”
“Discretix accumulated experience with ARM TrustZone is evident in flagship devices such as the Samsung GALAXY SIII, HTC One X and platforms like Qualcomm’s Snapdragon,” said Asaf Shen, VP Marketing IP Products of Discretix. “The ARM TrustZone Ready Program and the recently announced unified TEE Joint Venture further accelerates the adoption of secure services on mobile devices. Our alignment with the program and the Joint Venture allows IC manufacturers and OEMs to bring fully certified solutions to market quickly.”
