U.S. Army Geospatial Center (AGC) and TerraGo Develop eIndex Server for On-Demand Map Books

ATLANTA  – Aug. 7, 2012 – The U.S. Army Geospatial Center (AGC) and TerraGo Technologies, an innovative provider of widely adopted geospatial collaboration software solutions, have developed eIndex Server, a browser-based application to deliver on-demand maps and imagery from the AGC’s extensive library of geospatial resources.

Acting as a geospatial PDF library navigation, data retrieval and integration tool, eIndex Server allows AGC to define an Area of Interest (AOI) and discover all of the available geospatial PDF content falling within that area. eIndex Server simplifies map selection and accelerates map book production for the fast distribution of maps and map books. In the future, AGC will look to add all of its geospatial content to the eIndex Server.

As a provider of imagery and maps to the Department of Defense (DoD), the AGC creates and manages geospatial intelligence resources including the maps and imagery for most of the countries in the world for use by the Army, DoD branches and coalition partners - ultimately providing direct geospatial support and products to the warfighter.  The AGC also serves as the Army Knowledge Center for geospatial expertise by providing direct support to Army personnel and their activities via geospatial data production, analysis and reachback support.

“TerraGo is pleased to partner with the AGC to continue to develop innovative solutions to make its extensive geospatial maps and imagery database available to the warfighter as well as the National Guard and domestic public safety and disaster management personnel,” said Jim Sheen, TerraGo vice president of products and services.

The AGC and TerraGo Services used TerraGo® Composer® for Server, TerraGo SDK and Esri ArcGIS® Server to create to eIndex Server. Future upgrades of eIndex Server incorporating the latest release of TerraGo SDK will help AGC users to add WMS layers to the browser, support multiple map templates for specific scale, as well as support 3D GeoPDF content. The next evolution of the program will also focus on enabling self-service content integration for user specific functions.
