Subscription Gives Students and Faculty Access to Commercial-grade Software for the Design, Engineering, Construction, and Operation of Infrastructure, Including Nuclear Power Plants
EXTON, Pa. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — July 8, 2012 — Bentley Systems, Incorporated, the leading company dedicated to providing comprehensive software solutions for sustaining infrastructure, today announced that it has granted Bentley Institute’s Academic Subscription, offered through its Be Careers Network, to KEPCO International Nuclear Graduate School ( KINGS). Founded by the Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) and located in Ulsan, South Korea, KINGS is the only graduate school in the world dedicated to cultivating engineering professionals for the nuclear power plant industry. It recruits young professionals from around the globe who have a bachelor’s degree in science and engineering and at least three years of work experience. The software subscription was presented at a special ceremony presided over by Bentley Systems CEO Greg Bentley and KINGS President Goon-Cherl Park, and attended by Bentley Systems Senior Vice President Jean-Baptiste Monnier, KINGS Director of Planning and Management Myung Key Lee, and Associate Professor Ihn Namgung, department of nuclear power plant engineering, KINGS. The subscription gives students access to more than 50 of Bentley’s commercial-grade software applications for designing, building, and operating infrastructure.
The applications can be used on all school computers as well as student and faculty PCs. The subscription also provides a variety of learning resources, including manuals, textbooks, hands-on live training, and on-demand self-study offered through the Bentley LEARN Server, along with opportunities for scholarships. KINGS’ new Academic Subscription will enhance its engineering curriculum by educating students in a practical, hands-on learning environment.
President Goon-Cherl Park said, “Given the environmental costs of fossil fuel, the International Atomic Energy Agency predicts that 300 new nuclear power plants will be constructed by the year 2030. KINGS was established two years ago to fill the pool of nuclear engineers needed to meet this demand. The strategic agreement with Bentley will enhance the skills of nuclear professionals from around the globe who attend KINGS. I greatly appreciate Bentley Institute’s contribution to this learning opportunity and for its forward-thinking investment in the nuclear power sector. It will help South Korea establish a leadership position in the design, development, maintenance, and operation of nuclear power plants.”
CEO Greg Bentley said, “At Bentley, sustaining the infrastructure professions is a key component of our mission, so we are always pleased to help support the continuous education of budding as well as seasoned engineers. It is particularly gratifying to support the work of KINGS, given the crucial importance of nuclear power plant creation to our world’s sustained economic growth and our global community’s quality of life – as we continue to expend our finite fossil fuel resources. On behalf of my Bentley colleagues, I want to thank KEPCO for its KINGS initiative and the work it has already accomplished in bringing new talent to the multiple disciplines that comprise the field of nuclear engineering.”
About Be Careers Network

It accomplishes this by providing programs for students, faculty, and schools, including affordable software licenses, training, curriculum counseling, and scholarships. The programs are geared to the needs of students in universities, colleges, high schools, and technical schools. For additional information about Be Careers Network, visit www.becareers.org.
About KEPCO International Nuclear Graduate School
KINGS strives to go beyond traditional schools that pursue theoretical knowledge for achieving degrees. Instead, it places emphasis on external cooperation to provide practical knowledge and information, and hands-on experience in the nuclear industry. In August 2010, KEPCO Nuclear Group entered into a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with five KEPCO companies (KEPCO, KHNP, KEPCO E&C, KEPCO KPS, and KEPCO NF) to establish KINGS. The agreement supported KINGS in terms of student recruitment, securing outstanding faculty, curriculum, and research development. In January 2011, KINGS concluded the MOU for the operation of KINGS with internationally recognized Korean nuclear power plant manufacturers (including Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction, Daelim Industrial, Daewoo Engineering & Construction, Samsung C&T, and Hyundai Engineering & Construction) for mutual cooperation to exchange information, human resources, and experience.
