May 22, 2012 -- 1Spatial is delighted to announce that the company is entering a team in conjunction with Linknode for the 2012 Oxfam TrailTrekker challenge.
The annual TrailTrekker challenge, featuring over 230 teams this year, is an epic 100km trek, over a 30hour period (day and night!) across the Yorkshire Dales in aid of Oxfam. This year’s challenge is taking place on the weekend of 26th and 27th May.
Using the latest Windows phone technology, with the phones kindly donated on loan by Microsoft, Linknode will be providing its very own app’s to aid navigation and record keeping during the challenge. The ‘Heads Up Compass’ overlays heading and location onto photos for visible geo-tagging. The team will be also using a customised version of the ‘Where on Earth’ app which will provide information on the distance and direction to the
next mile markers and checkpoints on route, keeping the teams oriented as well as motivated!
Both 1Spatial and Linknode take corporate social responsibility seriously and are using the opportunity presented by TrailTrekker to extend their partnership beyond just business to include support for the important work that Oxfam does around the world.
Crispin Hoult, Managing Director at Linknode is taking part in the challenge as part of the team and said:
“Linknode are proud to be supporting the Oxfam TrailTrekker challenge and working with 1Spatial on a very different sort of project! Team work, understanding and a good pair of walking boots will be all vital as will the support of our friends and colleagues but we’re all looking forward it.”
Nic Snape, Managing Director of 1Spatial and previous participant in TrailTrekker and the Three Peaks Challenge said:
“This kind of endeavour provides people with a great opportunity to exceed their own expectations and really work as part of an operating unit. It is a great experience, as well as hard work! It promotes great teamwork and enables people to interact with different people than they might during their day-to-day tasks at the same time as supporting a great cause through Oxfam.”
