May 10, 2012 - iSEEK Corporation recently announced that its flagship product, CADseek, is now available integrated with Windchill, PTC Corporation’s premier PLM software offering.
CADseek is the market authority in shape-based search and Visual Data Management for large, distributed CAD databases. In a fully-automated mode, CADseek first codes all parts and assemblies in a user’s CAD database and then classifies them into families of similar shape. Parts and assemblies can then be quickly retrieved using geometry alone, attributes alone or a combination of the two.
For the initial implementation, CADseek can access geometric information and attributes from file folders and spreadsheets, but most often the procedure involves batch processing of CAD files and metadata extraction through a custom interface with the customer’s product data management system. Once the thin CADseek database has been populated, it can operate stand-alone as a server-client application capable of data exchange with the CAD software or PDM/PLM system.
In the newly enhanced version, CADseek is tightly integrated with Windchill to provide unprecedented collaboration between the two products. Windchill is launched from within CADseek, so that it becomes available as a tab selection in the CADseek client. The user can then:
1. View the Winchill information page for a model from within the CADseek client.
2. Download CAD models from Windchill to the desktop or open them in another application such as Pro/Engineer (Creo).
3. Browse Windchill libraries and workspaces from within the CADseek client.
4. Load a part from Windchill and perform a geometry search for similar models using CADseek technology.
This seamless integration produces the optimum engineering data management system. The final result combines all the power and efficiency of shape-based classification and search offered by CADseek with the many state-of-the-art PLM functions found in Windchill, all available at the user’s fingertips.
