(Feb. 29, 2012/Harrisburg, Pa.) GeoDecisions, an information technology company specializing in geospatial solutions, has been contracted by Illinois American Water (ILAW) to execute a geographic information system (GIS) conversion project.
Illinois American Water supplies high-quality water and wastewater service to approximately 1.2 million people throughout 126 communities. This GIS conversion project will improve its service to its clients and improve workflow efficiencies. The project will cover 11 districts throughout Illinois, from Chicago Metro to the Metro-east area near St. Louis, Mo. It also includes two Iowa American Water districts in eastern Iowa.
Using the American Water custom GIS data model, GeoDecisions will oversee the integration of relevant source data. Task orders for this GIS conversion include:
• Identifying and reviewing all relevant source data
• Reviewing the status, quality, and process used for completed GIS conversion work
• Developing and executing a comprehensive project plan and schedule for the GIS conversion
• Providing oversight and training of ILAW staff.
