The Virginia Aerospace Science and Technology Scholars (VASTS) program is an interactive on-line science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) learning experience highlighted by a seven-day residential summer academy at NASA Langley Research Center (LaRC) in Hampton, Virginia. Students selected to participate in the program are immersed in NASA-related research through interaction with scientists, engineers and technologists. Pathevo®, Owen Software's flagship web service, was developed in collaboration with the NASA Space Grant program and is the only education and career planning web service uniquely geared towards STEM disciplines.
This semester, for the first time, VASTS students will utilize Pathevo to create personalized STEM education and career plans based on their individual goals, timeline, interests and personal preferences. Each student's Pathevo plans contain detailed pathways with milestones to guide them step by step to achieve their defined goals. "We're very excited to provide our students with innovative technology that enables them to better understand the range of STEM education and career options available to them," stated Mary Sandy, Director, Virginia Space Grant Program. "Pathevo encourages students to explore and successfully pursue STEM academic and professional careers, underscoring the VASTS mission."
