Intergraph computer-aided dispatch will enable better resource utilization and collaboration among regions
HUNTSVILLE, Ala., Dec. 19, 2011 — (PRNewswire) — Denmark's Danish Health Regions has selected Intergraph's Computer-Aided Dispatch (I/CAD) system to reduce emergency response times and improve ambulance dispatch services. Intergraph will deliver a shared system to four of the country's five regions, including North Denmark Region, Central Denmark Region, Region of Southern Denmark, and Region Zealand. The dispatch solution will serve a population of 3.8 million, and will allow the regions to collaborate more efficiently to optimize emergency resources. The Intergraph implementation will include four control rooms with up to 15 positions in each. Callers will talk to an emergency center nurse, who will determine the need for assistance. A technical dispatcher will use I/CAD to dispatch ambulances, emergency doctors, or even helicopters. The system will be integrated with a communication system from Intergraph partner Frequentis, and with the regions' telephony systems, to ensure situational awareness during large-scale incidents such as terrorist attacks or natural disasters.
Recent reforms in Denmark's health sector make the new implementation especially important. With fewer hospitals, but also added capabilities, patients may be transported longer distances to reach the hospital with the right specialized resources. With the Intergraph system, dispatchers can ensure that ambulances arrive with the correct personnel and equipment to begin treating the patient at the site of the emergency.
"We're proud to assist the Danish Health Regions in ensuring their citizens have access to the right emergency medical services as quickly as possible," said John K. Graham, president, Intergraph Security, Government & Infrastructure. "We look forward to working with Danish Health Regions to optimize services as Denmark's health care delivery system evolves."
