Continental Mapping Consultants awarded 1-year US Air Force Satellite Contract

(Sun Prairie, WI) – October 18, 2011 – Continental Mapping is pleased to announce they have been awarded a contract to provide satellite imagery-based orthophotography services to the US Air Force Air Combat Command. This is a one-year contract with a second year option supporting Air Force Central (USAFCENT), involving satellite color imagery acquisition and orthoprocessing services for Air Force bases internationally. For this Air Force effort, Continental Mapping is partnering with satellite imagery provider DigitalGlobe to provide data specifically tasked for this project.

Continental Mapping is rapidly expanding its capabilities in the satellite imagery market as demand increases, regularly providing worldwide stereo and mono-based imagery services, including orthophotography and photogrammetrically-derived elevation datasets to private and government sector clients.

“We are very pleased to be able to apply our satellite remote sensing expertise and our experience with defense clients and federal geospatial data standards,” commented Continental Mapping President Dave Hart. “We have identified satellite-based services as a key component of our company’s future growth and are dedicated to working closely with DigitalGlobe to ensure the Air Force gets a great dataset.”

Continental Mapping Federal Program Manager Dan Frye added, “This is an especially exciting project as we continue to expand our services to our national defense clients as well as significantly grow our geospatial processing expertise using satellite imagery. The ability to provide mapping services in remote areas or areas not accessible to traditional aerial capture is becoming increasingly important and we are happy to be on the forefront of this advance in the remote sensing field.”

Continental Mapping is pleased to add the US Air Force Air Combat Command to our growing list of defense clients, and we look forward to applying our specialized knowledge and geospatial data development skills to serve the US Air Force on this project as a small business prime contractor.

Headquartered out of suburban Madison, Wisconsin, Continental Mapping is leading small business provider of geospatial data development services to private and public clients. Offering a full range of geospatial data creation services from full service land survey to photogrammetry and satellite imagery tasking, we are the leading small business geospatial experts in the country.
