24th year yields 8% total revenue growth, 139 new customers, and continued connections across the EDA ecosystem
MONROVIA, California – September 13, 2011 – Tanner EDA, the catalyst for innovation for the design, layout and verification of analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits (ICs), closed fiscal 2011 (year ending May 2011) with strong growth across a number of key business and technology metrics. Solid growth in revenues, new customers, product line, technology partnerships and foundry relationships marked the company’s 24th year in business.
Revenue growth continued its steady upward trend. Total revenue for the year was up 8% over fiscal year 2010. Regional revenue growth was in line with top-line growth rates, with strong performance coming from Japan, Asia and the rest of the world.
139 new customers were added to the Tanner EDA customer base and, largely as a result of the release of HiPerSilicon v15 very early in fiscal year 2010, existing customers accounted for a 13% greater share of new purchases in 2011 than in 2010. Tanner EDA’s HiPer Silicon full-flow analog tool suite was used to design analog and mixed-signal (A/MS) devices for applications including sensors, imagers, medical devices, and power management subsystems as well as analog IP. Tanner’s L-Edit MEMS and related product offerings also saw strong growth over the year; continuing to gain traction as this design space matures.
Product line growth also was significant. The company previewed version 16 of HiPer Silicon with OpenAccess database compatibility for layout at DAC 2011 in June. V16, to be released in calendar Q4 2011 enhances collaborative design capability for larger design teams and will enable designers to share files with colleagues and business partners using Open Access database standards. New features and functionality also were added to HiPer Silicon v15.12 to tools such as S-Edit, T-Spice, L-Edit, HiPer DevGen, and HiPer Verify.
In Fiscal 2011, Tanner EDA extended and deepened their PDK portfolio. A Tanner EDA/ Dongbu HiTek 0.18-micron analog CMOS PDK and a Tanner EDA/ TowerJazz 0.18-micron power management PDK were foundry certified; the latter including a qualified power management analog/ mixed-signal (A/MS) reference flow. Certified PDKs were also developed and maintained in support of X-Fab’s advanced modular CMOS and BiCMOS platforms.
2011 also saw Tanner EDA focusing on extending and deepening technology partner relationships in areas related to MEMs (SoftMEMs) and analog SPICE simulation (Berkeley Design Automation).
The company continued to improve customer outreach and support with the addition of NewPlus Systems and Technologies Ltd. as the company’s distributor for China as well as expanding the worldwide FAE team. Tanner EDA also hired several new employees across all business functions, including new account managers in each of northern and southern California.
“Smaller geometries and increased complexity for analog and mixed-signal design demand both innovative, cost-effective technology and excellence in customer support. As we continue to create powerful new tools and move as fast as standards allow towards more open systems, the dedication of our FAEs and the quality of both product development and ongoing maintenance and support have been major factors in our success this year,” said Greg Lebsack, president of Tanner EDA. “It’s a testament to our whole team that customers both old and new are happy with what we are delivering.”
