Avtex Enhances its Emergency Notification Software

Debuts CityWatch 3.5 with New Weather Alert Capabilities at NENA 2011

MINNEAPOLIS — (BUSINESS WIRE) — June 20, 2011 — Avtex, a provider of integrated technology solutions, announced today the release of CityWatch Notification System Version 3.5, a comprehensive software solution for emergency notification and mass communication message delivery. The new software features and enhancements include the addition of a WeatherTrax module, dynamic audio conferencing and support of multiple web browsers. Avtex will showcase the upgraded software at the NENA 2011 Conference which takes place this week in Minneapolis.

“Based on feedback from our customers, we’ve expanded the system capabilities to improve the usefulness of CityWatch,” said Joe Little, Notifications Solution Manager for Avtex. “With the recent onslaught of weather-related disasters, automated weather alerts have risen in importance as has dynamic audio conferencing as organizations require faster, more efficient team communication and collaboration. The 3.5 features and enhancements reflect the changing needs of the market.”

CityWatch Version 3.5 - New Features

User enhancements include usage billing detail, user message expiration, offer confirmation and an enhanced Mapping Platform. Administrators benefit with new survey features and improved reporting capabilities for call progress tracking, voice and email reports and team building.

CityWatch is in use by hundreds of government agencies and corporations nationwide who rely upon the system to support the execution of disaster recovery and emergency notification as well as non-urgent internal and external mass communication, automated scheduling and business continuity communications.

Many city, county and federal government agencies use CityWatch and its GIS mapping capabilities to alert residents within a specific region of impending danger. As an example, one Avtex customer recently faced an emergency situation involving an ammonia leak at a dairy farm.

“We used Avtex’s CityWatch system to notify the community of an ammonia leak at a local dairy farm,” states Larry Hatch, Logistics Manager for Washington County 9-1-1 in Oregon. “In this case, the system was able to produce 1,800 calls in thirteen minutes, saving us a great deal of time, cost and manual resources. We were able to focus on the specific area of concern and send a message only to the targeted audience. When a disaster strikes, this is exactly the kind of technology performance we require and expect to ensure safety and control.”
