Exciting Mobile GIS Package Now Available from The Schneider Corporation for the State of Iowa

Indianapolis, Indiana (April 22, 2009) – The Schneider Corporation, an authorized Trimble Mapping & Geographic Information System (GIS) Business Partner, is offering a complete Mobile GIS package to cities and counties in Iowa to utilize the recently launched statewide real time network (RTN) operated by the Iowa Department of Transportation.

The statewide Global Positioning System (GPS) reference network is designed to improve efficiency for GPS users. When using the appropriate equipment*, GPS handhelds have the ability to receive real-time GPS positioning information consistently and directly from the RTN, allowing users to improve accuracies and efficiencies while in the field, without a base station or postprocessing data.

The Mobile GIS RTN package includes a Trimble® GPS handheld bundled with ESRI ArcPad and Trimble® GPScorrect™ extension for ESRI ArcPad software, along with two days of onsite GPS consulting/training. In addition, users have the option to purchase additional GPS differential correction process software, the Trimble® GPS Analyst™ extension for ESRI ArcGIS Desktop software.

“Mobile GIS is allowing local governments to greatly expand the use of their GIS investment,” says Jeff Corns, vice president of The Schneider Corporation, “We are very excited to be part of a program that will provide so much value to the State of Iowa.”

Packages begin with the Trimble® Juno™ series handheld. The Juno series offers a 3.5G cellular modem option, a 3 megapixel camera, long life battery for all-day use, integrated Bluetooth® and wireless LAN capabilities. Users can expect high-yield GPS positioning with typical 2 to 5 meter accuracy.

The Trimble Nomad™ G series of integrated GPS handhelds offers all-in-one convenience in a device engineered for superior performance in harsh environments. The ultra-rugged handhelds feature 6 GB of Flash storage, 128 MB of RAM, a powerful 806 MHz processor, Wireless LAN and Bluetooth technology wireless connectivity, SecureDigital (SD) slot for removable cards, and a 3.5 inch VGA display. With a variety of configuration options, including a cellular modem, digital camera, laser bar code scanner, and CompactFlash (CF) expansion, the Trimble Nomad G series provides a range of all-in-one solutions for field data collection and inspection activities.

For high-accuracy GIS data collection and asset relocation, the Trimble GeoXH™ handheld from the GeoExplorer® 2008 series is the ultimate integrated solution. Using the RTN, the GeoXH handheld can provide real-time subfoot (<30 cm) accuracy with the internal antenna, and decimeter (10 cm) accuracy with an optional Zephyr™ external antenna. This unit is ideal for electric and gas utilities, water and wastewater services, and other applications where on the spot positioning is crucial. With a powerful 520 MHz processor, 128 MB RAM, and 1 GB of onboard storage, the GeoXH handheld is a high performance device designed to work as hard as you do.

Two days of onsite training is included with all of the packages listed above.
