Wintegra Announces "WinPath-Lite" Family of Devices for High Volume Applications

AUSTIN, Texas—(BUSINESS WIRE)—September 22, 2008— Wintegra Inc., a fabless semiconductor and software company targeting the access infrastructure market, announced today that it has broadened its portfolio of high-performance access processors with the WinPath-Lite family. This family is fully software compatible with other members of the WinPath family enabling Wintegra customers to effective scale their current designs to service even broader target markets.

The WinPath-Lite family continues with the market leading blend of simultaneous support of TDM, Ethernet, and ATM, but in a smaller package (29 x 29 mm, 780 balls, down from 1020). Direct connectivity is included for memory devices, Ethernet and DSL PHYs, Framers, as well as ATM connectivity. On-board control processing is provided via a MIPS 24K core.

Being produced in a smaller package enables lower power designs as well as lower total system cost for these high volume applications. High volume pricing begins in the $30s.

Like the original WinPath devices, the Lite family is well suited for target markets such as Wireless Backhaul, Fixed Wireless Access, pico base stations, Carrier Ethernet, and VDSL. The Lite family supports all the key protocols for these markets plus evolving ones as well, such as those from the Metro Ethernet Forum and the DSL Forum. The software in all WinPath devices is RAM based, enabling future upgrades, even for installed systems. All Wintegra networking software is supplied with the silicon without royalties or NRE fees.

The WinPath-Lite family offers a very compelling price and performance solution for high volume, cost sensitive designs, said Robert ODell, EVP of Marketing and Sales at Wintegra. Since it is software compatible with other members of the family our customers now have an even broader range of finely tuned system solutions available to them and can leverage their development across many product lines.
