Liga Systems Opens East Coast Customer Support and Development Office Appointing Dr. Pranav Ashar as Chief Scientist and Team Leader

SUNNYVALE, Calif.—(BUSINESS WIRE)—September 17, 2008— Liga Systems, Inc., innovative provider of lightning-fast RTL and gate-level hybrid simulation, today announced the opening of its East Coast Office in Acton, Massachusetts. The activities at this location will initially be heavily focused on research and development (R&D) along field and sales support for our customers in the region. Already, five senior developers plus one Sr. Applications Engineer, all simulation experts, have joined Liga Systems at this location. The East Coast Office is headed up by Dr. Pranav Ashar, who has been appointed as Chief Scientist for Liga Systems.

Dr. Ashars role is to guide future technology directions and product development for the company. Prior to joining Liga Systems, during his tenure as Department Head at NEC Labs in Princeton New Jersey, Ashar lead the original team that invented the underlying core technology embodied in Ligas hybrid simulator, NitroSIM. In addition, Ashar was co-founder and CTO at Netfortis, and CTO at Real Intent. At Netfortis, Ashar developed novel technologies for low-energy and high-speed detection of malware with application in mobile devices. At Real Intent, he helped the company develop a suite of products in practical timing and functional verification of integrated circuits based on formal methods like Boolean Satisfiability.

This past year, Liga Systems has been busy working with semiconductor and systems customers on both coasts to further mature NitroSIM, our flagship product, increasing our need for product support and development, so I am extremely pleased that Pranav has joined Liga, stated Henry Verheyen, President and CEO of Liga Systems. With Pranav on board, it quickly allowed us to begin attracting expert developers for the opening of our East Coast Office. We are very impressed by the talent Pranav has already brought together. Pranav and his team boost our development capabilities, enabling Liga Systems to attain its aggressive near-term road-map objectives, and satisfy the increasing demands of our customers for even more product features that will suit their evolving needs.

Dr. Ashar received his Bachelor's degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, and his Master's degree and Ph.D. in EECS from the University of California, Berkeley. After earning his Ph.D., Ashar joined NEC Labs in Princeton, New Jersey, where he seeded and developed numerous technologies in EDA, embedded design and system management that have had a lasting scientific and business impact. He is responsible for having created the verification department at NEC, with whom he developed seminal technologies in formal verification of hardware, and initiated a then ambitious research program in formal verification of software - both of which have led to products that are widely used within and outside the company. Ashar is also responsible for having created a program of research in autonomous management of distributed systems that has led to seminal technology contributions and widely used products. To his credit, Ashar has authored a book, 70 papers, 30 patents (granted or pending), and has contributed to the program committees and organizing committees of numerous conferences, as well as being an adjunct faculty in the CSEE department at Columbia University where he has taught graduate and undergraduate courses on EDA, hardware verification and hardware design.

I am delighted to be given the opportunity to lead and expand Liga Systems East Coast Office, and look forward to supporting Liga Systems delivery of its product roadmap, said Dr. Pranav Ashar. Our hybrid simulation solution has received an enthusiastic response from our customers. In order to meet their discriminating demands and ensure successful product adoption and proliferation, it is important that we further expand our engineering talents. To that end, we will be hiring the best and brightest simulation experts on the East Coast.
