Designed to complement the existing EZRadio family, the new EZRadioPRO product line provides new features that allow customers to meet upper-end performance characteristics while reducing the design and BOM cost that is typically associated with such higher-end customer products.
"Our goal in developing the EZRadioPRO product line was to offer to our customers an innovative, efficient and best-in-class link budget chipset that provides maximum design and features flexibility at the lowest system BOM cost," said Rafi Fried, General Manager Wireless Products, Integration Associates. "We will continue to develop additional ground-breaking products to enable customers to find in our wireless portfolio the best solution to fulfill their application needs."
With the introduction of EZRadio in 2004, Integration introduced new concepts to the system design community, such as a dynamic, automatic antenna-tuning function that can re-tune the antenna in 11 microseconds ensuring optimal performance even in changing field conditions.
The new EZRadioPRO products are still designed to make radio design simple with the configuration done through registers over an SPI bus and through the use of onboard features including an antenna switch algorithm and an embedded antenna diversity algorithm to increases customer project robustness by countering the effects of multipath and fading. Typically, the use of antenna diversity can be shown to add between 8 and 10 dB to a link budget.
Further features include a configurable packet handler, an AFC, on-chip crystal tuning, embedded voltage regulators, a low battery detector, a preamble detector, Tx & Rx 64 byte FIFOs, a temperature sensor and an 8-bit ADC.
The product line currently has 6 devices supporting OOK, FSK, and GFSK modulation techniques at data rates of up to 128kbps over a maximum frequency range of 240MHz up to 960MHz in 300Hz steps.
The EZRadioPRO product line was designed to provide performance characteristics typically available only through complex and time-consuming customer design. Integration's design team created the product with a sensitivity of -117dBm along with a configurable output power of up to +20dBm through the use of its embedded high-efficiency PA with extremely low current consumption characteristics for its given Tx power.
