Lorentz Solution Announces National Semiconductor Adopts Lorentz's PeakView for On-Chip Electromagnetic Design and Verification

MILPITAS, Calif.—(BUSINESS WIRE)—January 3, 2008— Lorentz Solution, Inc. today announced that National Semiconductor Corporation has adopted Lorentz's PeakView Electromagnetic (EM) Design and Verification tool suite to design and implement a broad range of complex passive components used in National Semiconductor's high-frequency integrated circuit (HFIC) designs. PeakView enables high-frequency designers to synthesize and model a variety of on-chip custom passive structures, including complex spiral inductors, baluns and transformers directly from their custom IC design environment.

National, a global leader in developing and delivering high-performance, energy-efficient analog and mixed-signal solutions, has chosen PeakView after a rigorous benchmarking of commercially available EM modeling capabilities and real silicon verification of multiple VCO designs. PeakView has been deployed for production use at National where it is utilized by designers to help optimize circuit performance and reduce overall chip area to create a smaller footprint.

Sury Maturi, director of National's Design Automation Group, said, "Adopting PeakView extends our high-frequency design practice and delivers unprecedented designer productivity for our high-frequency analog and mixed-signal design flows. Now, our designers are able to quickly and accurately design mission-critical inductors, baluns, and transformers themselves which leads to a more optimized circuit design. We are very impressed with PeakView's ease of use and its electro magnetic (EM) accuracy which has been verified in multiple silicon designs. It is a very important tool for removing the high-frequency, passive component physical modeling and simulation bottleneck."

PeakView is a complete EM design and verification solution offering IC-focused full-wave 3D EM synthesis, layout EM extraction, broadband multi-port circuit modeling, and a newly added high-frequency extraction of interconnect. PeakView is targeted for use by all high-frequency IC design teams and is deeply integrated within popular IC design environments, making deployment by Lorentz's customers easy and straightforward.

Jinsong Zhao, President and CEO of Lorentz Solution, commented, "We are very happy to add National to our growing list of top-tier semiconductor customers. We are excited to see National benefiting from adding PeakView to its overall analog design practice and look forward to helping them identify and address emerging EM design and verification problems."
