QUALCOMM Unveils New Bluetooth Solutions

- BTS4020 and BTR1722 Combine with QUALCOMM's MSM Chipsets to Deliver New Levels of Integration -

SAN DIEGO, Dec. 3 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- QUALCOMM Incorporated (NASDAQ: QCOM), a leading developer and innovator of advanced wireless technologies and data solutions, today announced two new Bluetooth(R) solutions being added to the Company's product portfolio. Upon the acquisition of certain Bluetooth assets from RF Micro Devices Inc. (RFMD(TM)) (see related December 3, 2006 announcement), QUALCOMM will be integrating the BTS4020(TM) and BTR1722(TM) solutions into select Mobile Station Modem(TM) (MSM(TM)) chipsets to provide complete Bluetooth solutions to device manufacturing partners.

"QUALCOMM's goal to provide its manufacturing partners with time-to-market and development cost advantages continues with the acquisition of the majority of RFMD's Bluetooth assets," said Dr. Sanjay K. Jha, president of QUALCOMM CDMA Technologies. "With the addition of the new BTS4020 and BTR1722 solutions to our product portfolio, we will be able to offer new levels of integration resulting in faster time to market, lower cost and smaller form factor."

The BTS4020 solution will be a Bluetooth system-on-a-chip (SoC) designed for mobile handsets. Featuring optimized power consumption, space savings and enhanced performance, the BTS4020 -- coupled with a full set of pre-integrated Bluetooth profile offerings -- will provide turnkey Bluetooth functionality for MSM chipsets. The BTS4020 chip will support the Bluetooth 2.0+ Enhanced Data Rate (EDR) specification and has the capability of supporting the upcoming 2.1 specification.

The BTR1722 solution will be a Bluetooth transceiver optimized for mobile handsets with direct conversion architecture for minimized interference with mobile handset frequencies, excellent sensitivity and power consumption optimization. The BTR1722 transceiver is also designed to shorten development time and reduce bill-of-materials costs for device manufacturers by eliminating the need for many external discrete components.
