This one chip solution supports the QQVGA (128x128) resolution and 65,000 colors. With minimum power consumption, it supports MPU interface at 68/80 modes and RGB interface from 6 bit to 16 bit.
This chipset targets sub-displays of mobile phones and MP3 player displays. Amorphous silicon TFT LCD offers superior image quality vs. STN LCD, and MagnaChip is targeting to replace STN LCD drivers with this new offering.
Davis Mok, Vice President of Marketing in MagnaChip's Display Solutions Division, commented, "STN LCD accounts for about 80% of LCD driver chips used for mobile phone sub-displays currently, whereas a-Si TFT LCD represents only approximately 4% of the total market. As our product offers superior image quality and is cost competitive, produced at our proprietary manufacturing facilities, we expect it to rapidly replace the STN market."
