Cadence Selects San Jose Conservation Corps as Beneficiary of Stars & Strikes Fundraiser; Pledge of Support Helps Complete Charter School that Gives High School Dropouts a Second Chance

SAN JOSE, Calif.—(BUSINESS WIRE)—Feb. 21, 2006— Cadence Design Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: CDNS) announced today that the San Jose Conservation Corps and Charter School has been selected as the 2006 recipient of the Cadence(R) Stars & Strikes(R) fundraiser. Stars & Strikes funds will be used to renovate a newly purchased building, increasing classroom space and adding a much-needed day-care center. The San Jose Conservation Corps and Charter School provides returning high school dropouts with a quality high school education and valuable work and life skills. Since 1987 more than 15,000 "at-risk" disadvantaged young men and women have earned their high school diploma and learned a vocation or trade that helps them earn a viable living.

"As the beneficiary of the Cadence Stars & Strikes fundraiser, we can complete our building in months rather than years," said Robert Hennessy, executive director of the San Jose Conservation Corps and Charter School. The Charter School will then have the facilities necessary to reach our goal of graduating 1,000 students each year by 2010, which will significantly impact the education of the future workforce in Silicon Valley."

The main event of the corporate fundraising effort, the Stars & Strikes bowling tournament, will take place Saturday, May 13. The San Francisco 49ers Foundation, which teamed with Cadence to provide the star power last year, will once again bring out players and coaches for the big event in 2006.

Cadence, the world's leading electronic design software provider, is headquartered in San Jose, Calif. Since 1990, the company has been raising money to meet community needs through its annual Stars & Strikes fundraising program and bowling tournament. With the fundraising expenses underwritten by Cadence, Stars & Strikes is one of the largest community events of its kind in Silicon Valley. The event provides an opportunity for Cadence's partners in business to come together as partners in the community, and every dollar raised together goes directly to the beneficiary. In the 16 years since its inception, more than $7.5 million has been raised to fund major programs and projects that provide significant benefits to local non-profit organizations and charities.

"Cadence seeks projects for our Stars & Strikes fundraiser that will have a long lasting impact on the community," said Mike Fister, president and CEO of Cadence Design Systems, Inc. "The San Jose Conservation Corps empowers willing young men and women to become responsible and productive citizens by providing them with a second opportunity for education and work experience. We feel privileged to support the program because of the difference it makes in the lives of these young people."

Companies interested in participating in the bowling event on May 13 may call Kathy Wheeler, Cadence's manager of global community involvement, at (408) 428-5993 or email kwheeler@cadence.com.
