VaST Systems Opens VaST K.K., Hires Seasoned General Manager

New executive management expertise to address expanding customer base in Japan

SUNNYVALE, California, February 15, 2006 -- VaST Systems Technology Corporation today announced the appointment of Gen Shimada as General Manager of the newly-opened VaST subsidiary in Tokyo, Japan. Shimada, an engineer and management professional with 20 years experience in the semiconductor and electronics industries, will report directly to CEO Alain Labat.

"We are thrilled to have an executive of Shimada-san's caliber of experience and knowledge of the industry," said Alain Labat, VaST's president and CEO. "VaST's sales of virtual system prototyping tools and models in Japan are increasing. Our new subsidiary will allow VaST to provide optimal support to our Japanese customers and our Japanese distributor, GAIA Systems Solutions. Gen's unique employment background in both US- and Japan-based world class corporate environments combines with his impressive education to deliver a solid advantage for VaST."

Ryuichi Hiraide, chairman and CEO of GAIA Solutions, commented, "We welcome someone of Shimada-san's caliber and look forward to working closely with him and VaST Japan as they continue to develop their technical resources to support GAIA and our rapidly growing Japanese customer base."

Gen Shimada has an MBA from Waseda Graduate School of Business and has studied technology management at Tokyo University's Graduate school of engineering. His undergraduate degree is in industrial engineering, from Tokai University. He also holds a certificate in multimedia engineering and programming from the University of California at Santa Cruz. Shimada has worked both in Silicon Valley and in Japan, coming to VaST from a position as director of the consumer business unit at ATI Technologies Japan KK in Tokyo. Prior to ATI, he was a sales executive at Marvell Japan KK. Shimada also has worked as business development manager at C-Cube Microsystems in Milpitas, as marketing manager for LCD driver IC products at Cirrus Logic KK, and as group leader of product marketing at National Semiconductor Japan KK.

"VaST's technology is being adopted by more and more companies in Japan," said Shimada. "The complexity and critical nature of embedded systems design is propelling the VaST solution in the market. Virtual system prototypes are the ideal way to optimize SoC architecture and provide a platform to begin concurrent hardware/software development. I look forward to being part of the team that contributes to the success of Japanese companies designing complex embedded systems".
