SAN JOSE, California – January 24, 2006 – Optimal Corporation, a leading provider of high-performance EDA solutions, today announced that it has expanded its executive management team by appointing former Cadence Design Systems (CDNS) executive, David DeMaria, as its new chief executive officer. DeMaria, in addition to taking over all day to day operations of the company, will become a member of the Optimal Board of Directors and will work with Optimal Chairman, Len Perham, to develop and implement the long term product, sales and business strategies of the company.
DeMaria joins Optimal as a successful and accomplished executive with over 20 years of experience in the EDA industry, most recently at Cadence. During seven years at Cadence, he held a number of executive positions, including Executive Vice President of the Systems division and Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing and Strategy. Prior to Cadence, Dave served as Group Vice President of Viewlogic’s Systems division and Managing Director of Zuken-Redac.
Perham said, “Dave is bringing his considerable executive talent and EDA experience to Optimal at a pivotal point. 2006 will be a breakout year for the company, and Dave’s expertise, industry contacts, vision and sense of Optimal’s place in that industry will be crucial to the company’s success. With Dave at the helm, we expect to see Optimal become the leading force in the high performance analysis space as signal integrity and power integrity become mission critical issues across chip, package and board design.”

Perham will continue as the Chairman of the Board and work with DeMaria to establish and implement objectives of Optimal Corporation. Perham also serves as chairman of the board at NetLogic Microsystems (NETL) headquartered in Mountain View, California and senior advisor to AsiaTech Management, a venture capital company headquartered in Santa Clara, California.
