Savaria Introduces Vuelift Mini Home Elevator

Live Outside the Box for Less

Laval, Québec, Canada, September 2020 – Savaria Corporation ("Savaria") (TSX:SIS), a global leader in the accessibility industry, launches the Vuelift Mini – a glass home elevator that delivers panoramic views and sleek, compact design.

Freed from the constraints of traditional home elevators in both design and function, the Vuelift Mini boasts a cylindrical glass hoistway with a small 50-inch footprint that makes it floorplan-flexible. Whether installed in an open-concept layout, near a wall or in a corner, the Vuelift Mini’s 360-degree, clear-glass construction does not compete with interior design styles, color, light, or texture, adding a feature that is unique and graceful. The elevator can be installed in a variety of locations including within spiral staircases, attached to balconies or mezzanines, or through floors.

A Savaria Vuelift Mini will cost most homeowners about the same as an upscale traditional residential elevator. For construction professionals, the system's integrated glass hoistway reduces labor and requires significantly less site preparation for accelerated installation, because there is no need to build a shaftway. This all-in-one installation also makes the Vuelift Mini a great choice for retrofitting into existing homes.

"We are working with savvy builders and architects who understand that adding a Savaria Vuelift to their projects gives them a leg up in marketing, especially to baby boomers and even the older members of Gen X, who are now part of the 50+ demographic. This elevator's versatility fits many styles and needs, from stair-intensive townhomes to retrofits and vacation properties. For homeowners, this is just another way to Stay at Home with Savaria™, and that includes my 3-level home, which now features a Vuelift Mini elevator," said Marcel Bourassa, President and CEO of Savaria.

This new cylindrical model is offered in UV-resistant glass or clear acrylic, with matching curved cab and landing doors. The standard frame color is black, with optional white, silver or custom colors, and it can be configured for up to six stops and 50 feet of travel. The winding drum drive system features quiet operation, a 500 lb capacity, and a full complement of safety features, including battery back-up lowering in the case of a power outage. The elevator meets or exceeds ASME A17.1 section 5.3, which outlines strict safety code requirements.

Residential elevators are hitting mainstream home design and it is no surprise. According to the  National Council on Aging, nine in ten seniors intend to continue living in their current homes over the next five to 10 years. With the global demographic shift to an aging population, homebuyers see an elevator as a way to plan for a future when stairs may become harder to manage. Additionally, the Vuelift Mini increases mobility for those whose homes are built on small lots with multiple floors.

“An elevator gives you the option to skip the stairs, whether for convenience or if faced with mobility challenges. When investing in a home and adding features – whether it's high-end appliances, quality stone counters, or a residential elevator – brand matters. Savaria is a leading home elevator manufacturer with a worldwide presence and a 40-year history. Now the Savaria Vuelift Mini offers luxury that previously would have been possible only from a custom-built solution,” said Alison Harper, Marketing Vice President, Savaria.

The Vuelift Mini elevator is available now through Savaria direct sales offices in North America and a network of dealers in North America, Europe and Australia. For higher capacity needs or larger cab sizes, the Savaria Vuelift line offers six models, including Round and Octagonal designs with capacity up to 950 lb.
