Xindium Unveils 6x6mm RF Power Amplifier Module for Use in GSM and GPRS Cell Phones

New Power Amplifier Features State-of-the-Art Performance and Footprint for Newest GPRS Handset Designs

CRYSTAL LAKE, Ill.—(BUSINESS WIRE)—Feb. 23, 2005— Xindium Technologies, a leading developer of advanced RF power amplifiers for mobile phones, has introduced a new power amplifier module, providing GSM and GPRS handset manufacturers with a new source of market-leading RF power amplifier performance in the industry's newest standard for PA module size.

The new PA module, the XIN9166, is a quad-band, 6x6mm GSM/GPRS InGaP HBT device with integrated power control, featuring best-in-class efficiency and ruggedness. The XIN9166 migrates Xindium's current offering to the 6x6mm footprint without compromising on the efficiency and ruggedness performance GSM/GPRS handset manufacturers have come to expect in their latest products.

"The XIN9166 gives manufacturers a much-needed new source for the highest levels of InGaP HBT performance in the most advanced form factor," said John Brewer, Xindium CEO. "Providing quad-band operation from a single control voltage profile, the XIN9166 simplifies new handset designs while enabling smaller handsets. Coupling these InGaP PAs with Xindium's development of the market's highest-performance RF power amplifier manufacturing technology, based on InP DHBT technology for EDGE and WCDMA, the XIN9166 confirms Xindium's position as a leader in the PA marketplace."

The XIN9166 PA module provides 60 percent efficiency at maximum output power for GSM900, greater than 50 percent efficiency for DCS, and ruggedness in excess of 10:1 VSWR across all bands. The XIN9166 supports tri-band and quad-band applications utilizing any combination of the GSM850, GSM900, DCS, and PCS bands. The XIN9166 PA supports GPRS Class 12 operation.

With sampling beginning in Summer 2005, the XIN9166 is priced at $3.10 at quantities of 10,000 units.

About Xindium Technologies

Xindium ( www.xindium.com) based in Crystal Lake, IL, northwest of Chicago, designs and markets advanced RF power amplifiers for next generation mobile phones, allowing faster, more reliable high-speed wireless data transmissions, such as Web browsing, downloading music, or emailing photos.

Xindium is developing indium phosphide (InP)-based power amplifiers for next-generation EDGE and WCDMA wireless networks. Xindium's power amplifiers redefine RF power, efficiency and linearity for the EDGE market, enabling EDGE mobile phones to transmit high-speed data applications, such as video, music, voice-over- IP, and Web sites, reliably over wireless networks.

Xindium also offers gallium arsenide (GaAs)-based power amplifier designs for the quad-band Class 12 GPRS handset market. These power amplifiers, which are identical in performance and cost to power amplifiers from leading vendors, provide a transitional solution for today's mobile phones while the industry moves toward future wireless networks. Later in 2005, Xindium will introduce an InGaP HBT-based quad-band PA module for EDGE handsets.
