SAE International Publishes New Standard to Characterize Aerospace EHA/EHM Methods

SAE International announces a new aerospace technical standard that provides methods of characterizing Electrohydrostatic Actuator (EHA)/Electrohydrostatic Module (EHM) duty cycles.

WARRENDALE, Pa., July 16, 2018 — (PRNewswire) —

WARRENDALE, Pa., July 16, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- SAE International announces a new aerospace technical standard that provides methods of characterizing Electrohydrostatic Actuator (EHA)/Electrohydrostatic Module (EHM) duty cycles.

" ARP6025: Duty Cycle Considerations for Electrohydrostatic Actuators" offers characterization methods for the following purposes:

  • To enable the comparison of the severity of different EHA/EHM applications. This allows the use of previously qualified designs without the need for repeat testing.
  • To define parameters for endurance-test design of EHAs; e.g., a way of executing a life-equivalent test in a shorter duration by increasing the speed of cycles and/or the level of applied loads.

The new standard can be used to accelerate endurance testing of EHA. It also can allow for the re-use of previously qualified designs without the need for repeat testing.

"ARP6025: Duty Cycle Considerations for Electrohydrostatic Actuators" was issued by SAE International's A-6b2 Electrohydrostatic Actuation Committee.
