Filmetrics Announces ProfilmOnline: A Free Online Viewer and Analyzer for 3D Optical Profiler Surface Images

SAN DIEGO — (BUSINESS WIRE) — January 15, 2018 — Filmetrics has announced its free online 3D surface-image viewer and analyzer, ProfilmOnline. This web-based software is ideal for viewing surface images from 3D optical profilers, profilometers, and scanning-probe microscopes. Analysis of surface images, such as measurement of roughness and step heights, is fast and intuitive. Surface images and analysis results can be stored in the user’s account. Sharing surface images with others, complete with interactive 3D viewing, takes only seconds.

All viewer functions and some analysis functions are free forever; advanced analysis functions are free throughout 2018 and then available for a monthly fee. Early users of ProfilmOnline are finding that it is ideal for use in a broad range of applications, including many in the semiconductor, solar, display, and biomedical industries. Filmetrics President Dr. Scott Chalmers stated, “ProfilmOnline is the first free, easy-to-use viewer for 3D surface images, which increases public accessibility to 3D surface imaging. It perfectly complements the world’s first affordable 3D optical profiler, the Profilm3D, which has been a great success since we introduced it last year.”

Filmetrics manufactures low-cost 3D optical profilers. Its Profilm3D has sub-nanometer vertical resolution, which surpasses optical profilometers that cost four times as much. It does so by using the same state-of-the-art measurement technologies as the most sensitive optical profilers available: vertical-scanning interferometry (VSI) and phase-shifting interferometry (PSI).
