High-Performance 11-Bit ADC from TI Provides Faster Time-to-Market for Wireless Infrastructure Applications In China

New Device Reduces Down Conversion By Half, Reducing Transceiver Systems Costs

HONG KONG, Nov. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Texas Instruments Incorporated (NYSE: TXN) (TI) today announced the release of ADS5413-11, the highest performing, lowest-powered, high IF application, 11-bit, 65 MSPS (mega samples per second) CMOS pipeline, analog-to-digital converter for export to China. The new device is optimized for multi-carrier wireless base station transceiver applications in all major air interfaces including GSM, CDMA, W-CDMA (UTMS) and TDSCDMA. (See http://www.ti.com/wiadc .)

"Until now, a high-performance, high IF data converter has not been available to base station manufacturers supporting the rapidly growing China market," said Daniel Chen, Business Development Manager TI Asia. "The ADS5413-11 offers all of the performance of a 12-bit device in an 11-bit form factor, delivering up to 1 GHz of bandwidth."

The ADS5413-11 is pin-compatible with previous generation devices including ADS5410 (12-bit, 80 MSPS) and ADS5413 (12-bit, 65 MSPS), providing an upgrade path. Since the ADS5413-11 does not require a license for import into China, it can also be used for prototyping until licenses for the 12 bit ADCs are approved. The ADS5413-11 performs at a high IF (up to 220 MHz), and at a minimal power consumption of 400 milliwatts. This high IF performance reduces the number of analog down conversion stages by half, reducing overall bill of material (BOM) and systems costs.

In addition, this ADC operates from a single 3.3 volt (V) supply, while offering the choice of digital output levels from 1.8 V to 3.3 V. The low noise, high linearity and low clock jitter makes the ADS5413-11 ideal for high IF sampling applications.

   Other Key Features
-- High density - capable of being used for multiple carriers
     -- Two's complement output format
-- On-chip S/H and duty cycle adjust circuit
     -- Internal or external reference
     -- Power-down mode
     -- Single-ended or differential clock
-- Wide analog input bandwidth of 1 GHz

  Available Today

The ADS5413-11 is available now in production quality from TI and its authorized distributors. It is packaged in a 48-pin TQFP with PowerPAD(TM) integrated circuit package (7mm x 7mm). To help support the device, an evaluation module (EVM) is also available. The EVM is a self-contained kit that allows customers to easily test the device in their own environment.
