Vin Ratford Assumes Advisory Role, Board Seat at Giga Scale IC; Appointed President, CEO at AccelChip

CUPERTINO, Calif.—(BUSINESS WIRE)—Aug. 11, 2004— Giga Scale Integration Corporation (Giga Scale IC(TM)) today announced that Vin Ratford will become an advisor and a member of its board of directors, a newly created position. He joins Giga Scale IC board members J. George Janac, co-founder and chief executive officer (CEO); Bill Sommers co-founder and chief technology officer (CTO); and Jonah Schnel, managing partner at ITU Ventures and an investor.

Ratford leaves his operational role as president of Giga Scale IC to become president and CEO at AccelChip Inc., the industry's only provider of automated flows from MATLAB(R) algorithms to silicon. (See related announcement from AccelChip dated August 11, 2004.)

"Vin has made a tremendous contribution to Giga Scale IC and we wish him well at AccelChip," says Janac. "While his role moves from operational to advisory at Giga Scale IC, we look forward to his continued advice and involvement in Giga Scale IC. Our estimation software and MATLAB are important parts of the overall integrated circuit creation flow with MATLAB serving a key emerging role in chip creation. We are looking forward to a close collaboration."

Adds Ratford: "I remain excited about the emerging opportunities for Giga Scale IC and will be working to further develop the product and business as it revolutionizes the way chips are specified, designed and manufactured."

About Giga Scale IC

Founded in 2003, Giga Scale Integration Corporation -- or Giga Scale IC(TM) -- is a private Electronic Design Automation (EDA) software company that develops InCyte(R), the first Specification Optimization System for integrated circuit (IC) design. Used during the Specify and Create phases of design, InCyte generates a Silicon Virtual Model(TM) (SVM) containing power, leakage, speed, die size, yield and cost for different processes. InCyte includes a specification cockpit, floorplanner and estimator bundled with semiconductor intellectual property (IP) to create the SVM. The SVM interfaces with other EDA tools and is used across the semiconductor supply chain to ensure compliance with the specification. Giga Scale IC corporate headquarters are located at: 10050 North Wolfe Road, Suite SW1-266, Cupertino, Calif. 95014. Telephone: (408) 255-0444. Facsimile: (408) 255-0344. Email: info@gigaic.com.
