OvS: Firm Body of Work

Internationally acclaimed landscape architects, OvS, fulfill the vision of multiple national botanic gardens and arboreta such as Chicago Botanic Garden, the National Arboretum and the New York Botanical Garden. The firm's passion for plants and deep horticultural legacy underpin its long-time relationships with botanic gardens and arboreta. "OvS produces designs that contribute to the site's ecological systems," said Sheila Brady, FASLA, and Principal. "It's about distilling the Institutions' objectives into an aesthetic composition."

OvS stands out as a leader in private residential gardens in places like South and East Hampton, NY; Greenwich, CT; Martha's Vineyard, MA; Newport, RI; Bethesda, MD; Washington, DC; and Kiawah Island, SC. "As an evolving firm, we continually seek out opportunities for contemporary landscape architectural expression as well as the vernacular of old world charm," said Eric Groft, FASLA and Principal.

OvS continues to bring innovation into urban corridors by creating habitats that humans want to be in. Creating engaging streetscapes, punctuated by small parks and cafes, often retail focused, provide an array of ecological benefits as well. These urban thoroughfares often go beyond planting, to incorporate tree health and stormwater management. "We believe that aesthetics and ecology should equally drive design." says Lisa Delplace, ASLA, and CEO.

OvS, located in Washington, DC for over 40 years, designs world renowned gardens that meld art, design, and environmental sensitivity. OvS' body of work ranges from urban corridors, parks, monumental civic spaces and public gardens, to estates and urban residences. ovsla.com. High-resolution images available upon request.
