Tecom Selects Sigma Designs' Next Generation Home Networking G.hn Chipset

MILPITAS, CA -- (Marketwired) -- Jun 02, 2014 -- Sigma Designs® (NASDAQ: SIGM), a leading provider of intelligent system-on-chip (SoC) solutions for Smart TV, Smart home and IP-based set-top-boxes, announced today that advanced networking supplier Tecom Co., Ltd. ("Tecom"), has selected Sigma Designs' G.hn CG5200 family of chipsets for their HD3000 and HD3010 G.hn power line MIMO-based products.

The CG5200 enables a complete self-install home entertainment network for the distribution of Triple Play and IPTV over all power lines, phone lines, and coaxial wires. With MIMO (multiple input, multiple output) and SISO (single input, single output), the CG5200 improves coverage and increases throughput rates.

Consumers today face a mix of non-interoperable home networking technologies. G.hn offers a single wired international standard for connecting devices. With Sigma's CG5200, every power outlet, coaxial outlet, and phone jack in the home becomes a network connectivity point on the same mesh network, providing consumers with convenience and flexibility. This enables traffic to be delivered seamlessly from one medium to another.

Tecom's HD3000 is a G.hn powerline MIMO bridge and the HD3010 is a G.hn Power line to the WIFI Extender. With these two products G.hn serves as the backbone that delivers robust multimedia, IPTV, and data while increasing wireless coverage in home environments that present the challenge of thick walls or multiple floors.

"TECOM is pleased to work with Sigma Design in bringing the G.hn solution to the consumer entertainment market," said David Chou, Head of Broadband and Wireless Networks Business Unit of Tecom.

The G.hn CG5200 chipset family includes:

"CG5200 was built with considerations around service providers and consumers challenges in mind," said Nadav Katsir, vice president of Sigma Designs' Home Connectivity business line. "The G.hn CG5200 family chipset offers complete self-install home networking for multiple streaming with no new wires needed to be installed. It's a winning solution for service providers and customers alike," he continued.

Sigma Designs will showcase Tecom's G.hn CG5200 based during Computex show at the HomeGrid
