Simpleware Celebrates Successful Year for its Award-Winning Software

EXETER, U.K. - December 4, 2013

Simpleware Ltd. has enjoyed another year of significant success as a provider of 3D image data to computational model software solutions for CAD, FEA, CFD and 3D Printing. The UK based company has experienced continued growth since its formation in 2000, and now has an international client base and network of resellers. 2013 saw Simpleware release Version 6.0 of its image processing, analysis and meshing software suite, collect prestigious Institute of Physics and Queen’s Awards, and expand its market presence in the U.S. West Coast.

New Release: Simpleware 6.0

The latest version of Simpleware, released in July 2013, updated the features and tools available with its core image processing platform ScanIP. Updates were also made to add-on modules +FE (volume meshing for FE and CFD), +CAD (integration of CAD objects with image data), and +NURBS (creation of CAD-ready NURBS models).

Version 6.0 of Simpleware upgraded the software’s user interface to a ribbon design, making it easier for users to find tools and features. New macro recording tools are now combined with flexible scripting, as well as a new Welcome Screen, reducing learning curves for new users.

Improvements were also made to Simpleware’s strengths in CFD meshing, with options added to mesh boundary layers and generate custom inlets and outlets using mesh clipping. The general quality of the surface and volume meshes possible with Simpleware was also increased through the addition of curved quadratic elements and a tet to hex converter.

Additional upgrades were made to Simpleware’s segmentation tools, enabling easier detection of mask boundaries based on greyscale sensitivity, and the ability to improve visualization of low contrast image data. Statistics can now also be obtained for segmented Regions of Interest (ROIs), allowing for advanced quantification of image data.

Awards

Simpleware’s success in developing software for improving areas such as biomedical implant design, materials characterization and non-destructive evaluation was recognized this year by an Institute of Physics Innovation Award, and a second successive Queen’s Award for Enterprise.

The Institute of Physics Award highlighted Simpleware’s contributions to design engineering and simulation, as well as its success as a British software company providing solutions for biomedical, materials and geoscience, and non-destructive industrial testing.

The Queen’s Award for Enterprise was granted to Simpleware for its achievements in selling its software around the world. This was Simpleware’s second Queen’s Award, with the first, granted in 2012, recognizing the innovation and commercial success of the company’s software.

International Sales Network

Simpleware closed out its year by agreeing a reseller partnership with the San Diego-based Device Analytics for the U.S. West Coast market. The deal expanded Simpleware’s comprehensive global sales network, which includes partnerships in Europe, Russia, Japan, China, Taiwan and South Korea.

Simpleware is targeting further growth in 2014, with plans for continuing software and services development, as well as ongoing international expansion.
