Liz on the list as emapsite expert gains Ordnance Survey accreditation

February 15, 2013 -- A Data Engineering Manager at OS Premier Partner emapsite has completed a gruelling selection process to become an accredited OS Data Consultant.

As one of 14 geographic information experts, Liz Scott will work with the national mapping agency to encourage and facilitate the wider adoption of location information by business users to improve decision making and strategic planning.

An expert in geospatial data products including the Ordnance Survey product family, Liz advises professional clients - in the UK and internationally - on data supply, acquisition, usage, licensing and management.

Her clients include UK-based professionals embarking on projects overseas and those seeking digital mapping, aerial and satellite imagery, terrain and marine data and other information for places such as Malawi, Turkey, Kazakhstan and Oman.

Liz leads a team instrumental in the timely delivery of data for all emapsite’s platforms including the ‘emapsite inside’ portfolio of OGC-compliant web services WMS, WFS and WMTS.

Liz said: “This practical experience at the interface between suppliers, their product teams, solutions architects and customers will be vital in the role of OS Data Consultant. My aim is to help prospective new users in new industries to best appreciate the options for and benefits to be gained from the cost effective
adoption of location data.

“The accredited consultants programme is designed to encourage best practice in the use of geospatial data among public sector and commercial customers. This is a complementary fit to what we do
already at emapsite, particularly among our core client base of consulting engineers, environmental consultants, landscape architects, utilities and local government.”

Ordnance Survey’s rigorous three-month accreditation process included online exams and face-to-face panel interviews. Customers can now match their business requirements to the consultant with the most relevant skills and experience.

Neil Taylor, Head of Commercial Markets at Ordnance Survey, said: “With the increasing relevance of
location data to business, it's important for us to ensure our customers are able to access the very latest advice from a range of leading industry experts. Members of this select group are equipped to ensure customers can leverage the maximum benefit from their investment in Ordnance Survey data.”
