FIND Maps launches cost effective online marine data feeds

July 17, 2012 -- FIND Maps, in association with OceanWise, has announced the launch of its innovative MarineFIND online data services. FIND Maps is currently the only supplier of OceanWise Marine data via TMS and WMS/WFS feeds.

Development of these new services allows users of marine GIS data and charts to access data ‘as a service’ direct from desktop GIS applications.  The data can also be quickly and easily deployed in a number of online mapping applications as overlay map sets.

The MarineFIND TMS provides competitively priced contextual, regional and global datasets.  These can be incorporated into many mapping API applications used for vessel tracking, maritime security, offshore infrastructure websites and much more.

‘Our objective is to ensure that marine data delivery meets the needs of today’s users and is fully compliant with licensing obligations’, Jon Coleman, Marine Business Manager, FIND Maps.

‘We’ve drawn upon our considerable experience with online delivery and Open Geospatial Consortium standards to give our clients instant direct access to marine data. Once users have tried ‘data as a service’ there really is no going back’, Simon Lewis, Managing Director, FIND Maps.

A range of data is available including raster charts, vector marine themes, ICZM data and map tile sets.  These are ideal for use by coastal zone planners, marine and environmental consultants, marine designers, oil and gas companies, and cable operators.

Accessing data online from FIND Maps offers considerable savings as a result of:

Technical development involved thorough testing by clients whose feedback was vital to the process.
