Intergraph® Computer-Aided Dispatch Has First Pilot Interface for Unified Incident Command and Decision Support (UICDS) Project

Intergraph's interoperability software to help UICDS in Richmond share data with Virginia Emergency Management Association

HUNTSVILLE, Ala., July 20, 2011 — (PRNewswire) — Intergraph®, the leading global provider of incident management solutions, in cooperation with, Augusta Systems, and the City of Richmond has developed a standards-based interface that enables two-way information sharing between subscribers. Designed to support the Unified Incident Command and Decision Support (UICDS) platform developed by the Department of Homeland Security's Science and Technology Directorate, this interface will help UICDS in Richmond share critical information with the Virginia Emergency Management Association (VEMA).

Intergraph is the first computer-aided dispatch (CAD) provider to implement a pilot interface for UICDS, which is sponsored by the Science and Technology Directorate of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and executed through a prime contract with Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) (NYSE: SAI). UICDS' efforts promote multi-agency incident response through a national architecture for emergency information-sharing. "The UICDS effort is critical to helping enhance information sharing and collaboration in the emergency management domain," said Chip Mahoney, SAIC's UICDS Project Manager.  "We look forward to continuing our work with Intergraph and others in the Richmond area and extending it to support the information sharing needs of other communities across the country."

"Coordinated information-sharing is the key to critical incident response," said Patrick Esposito, president and chief executive officer of Augusta Systems. "EdgeFrontier from Augusta Systems acts as a bi-directional interface between the UICDS core and Intergraph's Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) system, monitoring incidents from each system and updating the other as necessary. We are proud to work with Intergraph and SAIC on this important project for the Richmond area."

The city of Richmond and Intergraph have a successful history of partnering on standards-based interoperability initiatives. Richmond's two-year pilot External Alarm Interface Exchange project, funded by the U.S. Department of Justice, automated the communications between alarm companies and public safety answering points (PSAPs) to reduce calls from residential and commercial security companies by approximately 6,000 annually.

"The City of Richmond is excited to reach new heights in the world of mission critical information sharing across the emergency management and public safety domains.  Richmond has enjoyed its partnership with Intergraph as evidenced by the outstanding and continued success of the External Alarm Interface Exchange project, which is now an American National Standard," said Bill Hobgood, Project Manager, City of Richmond.  "With the UICDS project, we look forward to another joint success made possible by the Intergraph, SAIC, and Augusta Systems team."

"Intergraph places a high priority on driving industry standards that enable interoperability across agencies and jurisdictions," said John K. Graham, president, Intergraph Security, Government & Infrastructure.  "Intergraph will continue to work with SAIC and the Department of Homeland Security to ensure our customers can support National Incident Management System (NIMS)-compliant interoperability. "
