ERDAS and DigitalGlobe Host World Tour Event in Longmont, CO

Norcross, GA — ERDAS and data partner DigitalGlobe are proud to announce another stop on the 11 World Tour in Longmont, CO on March 23, 2011.

During this event, ERDAS and DigitalGlobe will showcase the power of WorldView-2’s 8-band multispectral imagery in ERDAS 2011 products, including ERDAS IMAGINE, LPS, ERDAS APOLLO and ERDAS Extensions for ArcGIS. By exploiting WorldView-2 imagery in ERDAS software, users minimize their pre-processing requirements and utilize sophisticated product capabilities to deliver intelligence and highly accurate terrain, feature and image products.

Users from more than 30 different government, educational, and business entities will be represented at the event.  Scott M. Hicar, Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer, DigitalGlobe, will provide the opening address at this event. In addition, Kumar Navulur, Director Product Management, DigitalGlobe will also provide a keynote address.

ERDAS’ product management and marketing team will introduce attendees to ERDAS’ latest software release, with an overview of the significant changes across the entire product portfolio.

These demonstrations include the new imagery analysis workflows in ERDAS IMAGINE 2011 and the stereo visualization and 3D capabilities that ERDAS Extensions for ArcGIS bring to the ArcGIS 10 platform.

ERDAS IMAGINE 2011 offers new tools and an enhanced interface for quick and easy creation of presentation products. Designed especially for the most demanding image analysts, these enhancements meet the most exacting standards, including those of the defense and intelligence community.  The improved workflow offers new report templates with elements (labels, scale bar, north arrow, coordinates, etc.) that update automatically based on the imagery loaded into the template.  Many of the standard templates include an auto-generated country map that clearly indicates the location of the imagery. Additionally, users can annotate imagery with text tools that work similarly to the ubiquitous Microsoft Office and easily create inset views that highlight specific areas with greater detail. Once reports are complete, a single click exports them to Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, or JPEG.

ERDAS Extensions for ArcGIS is a production suite of stereo visualization tools that integrate seamlessly into the ArcGIS® environment.  Stereo visualization enables users to view imagery in 3D, facilitating interpretation of topological features and allowing more spatially accurate feature collection than digitizing features from an orthorectified image. This release of ERDAS Extensions features essential updates providing full compatibility with the ArcGIS 10 platform, several important usability enhancements, and improvements to display speed and performance.

“DigitalGlobe is excited to be strengthening our long standing partnership with ERDAS by co-sponsoring this event on behalf of our customers,” said Hicar.  “DigitalGlobe’s 8-band multispectral imagery brings tremendous new capabilities to imagery analysts, and the ERDAS tools will allow our customers to unlock the value of our newest imagery.”
