Dongbu HiTek Releases BCDMOS Process Design Kit That Supports Low Gate-to-Source Voltages (Vgs) at 0.35-micron Node

Low Vgs Process Enables LDMOS Transistors to Operate at Standard 3.3/5.0V levels, Thereby Eliminating the Need for a Dedicated 12V Power Supply

SEOUL, South Korea — (BUSINESS WIRE) — April 19, 2010 — Dongbu HiTek today announced the formal release of a Low Vgs BCDMOS Process Design Kit (PDK) that reduces the gate-to-source voltage of LDMOS transistors from 12V to standard 3.3/5.0V levels, thereby eliminating the need for a dedicated 12V power supply. Recently qualified for use on audio amplifier ICs now shipping in volume to DMB Technology ( see news release dated March 24, 2010), the new PDK is now being used by several other manufacturers to facilitate the implementation of compact BCDMOS chips at the 0.35-micron node.

According to Jae Song, Dongbu HiTek VP of sales and marketing, the Low Vgs PDK underscores his company’s growing momentum in providing specialized technology development and processing. “In addition to taking our best-in-class BD350 process and optimizing LDMOS power transistors to operate at CMOS Vgs levels, our versatile PDK supports operating voltages up to 60V. Moreover, it also delivers competitive advantages in terms of high-speed data transfer and power efficiency.”

Mr. Song added, “Judging from the early adoption of our Low Vgs PDK, we expect to see its use to grow across consumer, communications, automotive and industrial markets. Our Low Vgs B350 process is ideal for implementing a broad range of highly integrated chips including DC-to-DC Converters, Data Inverters, Buck/Boost Converters, AMOLED Drivers, Motor Drivers, Class D Amplifiers, Audio Processors and Switch Mode Power ICs as well as both LED and LCD Drivers for flat panel displays.”
