Spatial Roundtable Discussion Turns to Planning 2.0

Industry Leaders Consider Impact of Social Media and GeoWeb

Redlands, California — January 20, 2010 — Planners and other industry leaders are invited to discuss the impact that social media and the GeoWeb have on their field at the online Spatial Roundtable. ESRI Community Development industry manager Ahmed Abukhater started the conversation on January 15 and asked the question, “How should planners leverage Planning 2.0 to connect with their communities?”

“Taking a closer look at paramount issues surrounding the planning practice and related technology trends, Spatial Roundtable offers thought-provoking insight into the role of social media and GeoWeb in shaping functional, collaborative, and transparent Planning 2.0 systems,” says Abukhater. “It provides an in-depth exposé on a variety of issues and alternatives that concern planners and the planning profession today. This is a great venue for sharing your thoughts and ideas. We welcome contributions from all walks of the planning practice.”

Spatial Roundtable is designed for geographic information system (GIS) industry thought leaders to share their points of view about trends, challenges, and technologies. Participants in the discussion include the main contributor, who initiates the discussion, and invited topic-expert guests. Site visitors may also add comments. Topics remain open for discussion for six weeks. Archived topics are accessible for 24 months.
