Silicon Image™ Wins Emmy Award for HDMI™ Technology

SUNNYVALE, Calif.—(BUSINESS WIRE)—January 8, 2009— Silicon Image™, Inc. (NASDAQ: SIMG), a leader in semiconductors and intellectual property for the secure distribution, presentation and storage of high-definition content, today announced that it has been honored with the Technology & Engineering Emmy® Award by The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) for its contribution to the development and implementation of the High-Definition Multimedia Interface™ (HDMI™) technology standard. Silicon Image was presented with the award at the 60th Annual Technology & Engineering Emmy Award ceremony at The Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada on January 7, 2009.

Joining Silicon Image in receiving the award are fellow HDMI technology developers and HDMI Licensing, LLC founding members Hitachi Ltd., Panasonic Corporation, Philips Consumer Electronics International B.V., Sony Corporation, Thomson, Inc. and Toshiba Corporation. Intel Corporation, Japan Aviation Electronics (JAE), and Molex Incorporated were also honored with this award for their contribution to the proliferation of the HDMI standard.

Introduced in December 2002, the High-Definition Multimedia Interface specification combines uncompressed high-definition video and multi-channel audio in a single digital interface to provide crystal-clear digital quality over a single cable. According to market research firm In-Stat nearly 394 million HDMI-enabled devices are expected to ship in 2009, and by the end of 2009 100% of digital televisions will have at least one HDMI input.
