As designs move beyond 90 nanometers, noise on the clock network is having serious impact on skew and jittering, resulting in timing budget issues and manufacturability challenges. PsiWinder considers the concurrent and inter-dependent effects of both power/ground noise and signal crosstalk noise on timing.
PsiWinder utilizes instance-based Vdd/Vss waveforms generated by RedHawk(TM), Apache's dynamic power integrity solution, in conjunction with coupling noise generated by the aggressors on a net, to provide a more accurate analysis of the clock tree behavior prior to tapeout. PsiWinder runs a true-spice simulation on the full clock network, delivering spice-level accuracy within an easy-to-use cell-based flow.
In addition to clock tree analysis, PsiWinder provides a more accurate view of the setup and hold time violations of a critical path, especially those that pass through the chips' dynamic hotspots.
