Jefferson County, AL to Adopt New Asset Management System

ATLANTA (May 10, 2021) -- In an effort to streamline operations and reduce maintenance costs, Jefferson County, Alabama, plans to develop a new work and asset management program with the help of Cityworks and local engineering firms.

Jefferson County, the most populous county in Alabama, has entered a three-year contract with POWER Engineers, Inc., to develop a comprehensive Cityworks asset management solution for all of its vertical assets (infrastructure, pumps, motors, and electrical equipment) in their plants and pump station facilities.

The contract will support the development of an asset management solution for Jefferson County’s wastewater treatment plant and pump station assets and will include an implementation of Cityworks AMS to replace the County’s legacy work management system. The Cityworks solution will integrate with the County’s SCADA system and evaluate using Cityworks Operational Insights to assess overall asset health and establish future maintenance strategies.

Initial stages of the project will include a full condition inspection on Jefferson County’s 5,000 wastewater treatment plant assets and 177 pump stations. The data will be used to develop a complete work and asset management program for the County.

“We are excited to team up with the County and the local engineering firms to bring updated asset management technology and industry best practices to Jefferson County. This investment provides a solid foundation for asset management that will provide benefits for the next decade,” explained Bill Hoisington, Business Development Manager at POWER.

POWER will work with local engineering firms, Krebs Engineering, Waggoner Engineering and Jackson, Renfro & Associates, Inc., to complete the inspections and business process evaluations.
