A2Zlogix’s ImageIQ® Video Bandwidth Reduction Technology Achieves Performance Breakthroughs With NVIDIA Tesla Accelerated Computing Platform

A2Zlogix Delivers Heightened Performance, Increased Operational Efficiency, and Reduced Costs Along With Quality End-User Viewing Experience

EDISON, N.J. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — November 17, 2015A2Zlogix, Inc. today announced that it has selected NVIDIA® Tesla® K80 GPU accelerators to power its certified ImageIQ® Video Bandwidth Reduction (VBR) platforms. Test results confirm that the synergy between the Tesla K80 accelerators and A2Zlogix’s VBR technology results in major breakthroughs in performance, efficiency, density, and cost. These gains compound the effect produced by VBR’s inherent ability to deliver double-digit percentage reductions in video size with no loss in image quality.

By offloading additional computation from the CPU to the GPU, the Tesla K80 GPU enables VBR to process media assets up to 4 times faster — which results in higher throughput for VoD processing, and additional parallel instances in the case of IPTV and SDI workflows. In addition, the high-performance Tesla K80 GPU allows more streams to be processed per server, thereby reducing the number of servers required, while shrinking VBR’s operational costs. For example, an 80 channel stream that previously required 40 servers can now be reduced to 10 servers. This also reduces the footprint required for large-scale deployments as well as the complexity of maintaining and managing extra servers in customer data centers.

Steve Nowalk, A2Zlogix’s Director of Prototyping and Product Management, commented on the choice of NVIDIA Tesla K80 GPU accelerators as follows: “As A2Zlogix consolidates its position as a leader in the emerging media landscape, we continue to collaborate with other industry leaders who offer complementary technologies. The unsurpassed performance of the Tesla K80 GPUs enables us to offer powerful solutions that meet our customers’ business and technical requirements — and as such, we regard NVIDIA as the only company to work with in the HPC space with our GPU-accelerated solutions.”

“The NVIDIA Tesla Accelerated Computing Platform enables VBR to achieve more efficient, higher density processing faster than in real time,” said Greg Estes, vice president of Enterprise Marketing at NVIDIA. “Our Tesla K80 GPUs provide benefits throughout A2Zlogix’s VBR video processing workflow and beyond — from content and service providers looking to increase revenue and reduce costs to end users gaining a higher-quality viewing experience.”
