MIPI Alliance Announces "MIPI Open & Demo Day" for Non-Member and Member Developers

Complimentary Event on March 12 in Seattle offers Educational Sessions, Demonstrations and Opportunities to Interact with Technology Experts and Users

PISCATAWAY, N.J. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — February 11, 2015MIPI® Alliance, an international organization that develops interface specifications for mobile and mobile-influenced industries, is hosting an open educational forum and product demonstration event in Seattle on March 12.

The special event, called MIPI Open & Demo Day, is open free of charge to pre-registered attendees who want to learn about MIPI Alliance, its current and forthcoming specifications, and best practices for technology implementation. Device hardware and software developers, MIPI Alliance members and non-members, press and analysts are all invited and welcome to attend.

“This is a great opportunity for any interested developer to get the first-hand information they need about the implementation of MIPI Alliance specifications,” said Peter Lefkin, managing director, MIPI Alliance.

“We particularly encourage non-members to join us,” Lefkin said. “In addition to our educational sessions and demonstrations, this forum provides a welcome venue for asking questions and interacting with MIPI Alliance members who implement our specifications.”

Lefkin emphasized that as the mobile ecosystem expands and mobile connectivity makes its way into more types of devices, the applicability of MIPI Alliance specifications is extending to new industries, including the Internet of Things (IoT), automotive and wearable segments. The MIPI Open & Demo Day specifically targets the informational needs of developers as well as MIPI Alliance members who don’t normally attend MIPI Alliance meetings or working group sessions.

The MIPI Open & Demo Day agenda includes a keynote presentation by Rick Wietfeldt, chair of the organization’s technical steering group, who will deliver an overview of the MIPI Alliance Specification Framework and technology roadmap. Ken Foust, chair of the MIPI Alliance sensor working group will provide an in-depth technical presentation on the MIPI I3CSM Sensor specification. Presenters from the developer and test community will offer their perspectives on the use and benefits of certain MIPI Alliance specifications. The specifications featured will include Camera, Display, PHY, SoundWire, and RF Front End (RFFE).

Companies providing demonstrations during the event include Arasan Chip Systems, Avery Design Systems, BitifEye Digital Test Solutions GmbH, Cadence Design Systems, Inc., Keysight Technologies, Mentor Graphics, Mixel, Inc., Synopsys, Inc., Tektronix and Teledyne LeCroy.

The MIPI Open & Demo Day will take place on March 12 at the Renaissance Seattle Hotel in conjunction with the MIPI Alliance Seattle Member Meeting that is set for March 9-13. The open event follows a successful, similar session that was held in Shanghai in October 2014 and is the first open meeting held in the United States in recent years.

The MIPI Open & Demo Day is free but pre-registration is required. For more information about the event, please visit http://mipi.org/content/mipi-open-demo-day-seattle-2015. To pre-register, please visit http://bit.ly/MIPI_OpenDay_Registration.
