OGDEN, Utah, Jan. 26, 2015 — (PRNewswire) — Weber State University's Telitha E. Lindquist College of Arts & Humanities ( http://www.weber.edu/cah) will host one of the state of Utah's largest Arts Integration Conferences at the Val A. Browning Center for the Performing Arts on February 6, 2015. Three of the nation's leading researchers on the intersection of science and art Dr. Jeremy Goldbogen from Stanford University, Dr. Nicole Robinson, Professor of Music at the University of Utah, and Dr. Amy Miner, Assistant Professor of Education at Brigham Young University, will lead interactive sessions for educators and the general public focused on linking science with visual and creative arts. The conference will also feature guest artists offering hands-on arts integrated workshops which directly address Utah Core Standards in the classroom.

"The Weber State University Arts Integration Conference provides Utah educators and community members with knowledge and activities that enable the practical application of the arts in the classroom and community," said Madonne Miner, Dean of the Telitha E. Lindquist College of Arts & Humanities. "We invite educators, community members and students to take advantage of the Weber State University Arts Integration Conference. This event allows the beauty of art and the wonder of science to fuse together in a unique and powerful way."

Following the keynote presentation by Dr. Jeremy Goldbogen from Stanford University ( http://goldbogen.stanford.edu/), arts integrated workshops will be presented by Dr. Nicole Robinson, Professor of Music at the University of Utah ( http://music.utah.edu/), Dr. Amy Miner, Assistant Professor of Education at Brigham Young University ( http://education.byu.edu/), Lisa Leibering, Manager of School and Community Programs for Gateway to the Arts ( http://www.gatewaytothearts.org/), Kathleen "K" Stevenson, Professor of Art at Weber State University ( http://www.weber.edu),  Alyssa Herzog Melby, former Director of Education and Community Engagement at Pittsburgh Ballet Theater ( http://www.pbt.org) and the new Executive Director for the Northfield Arts Guild ( http://northfieldartsguild.org), and Erinne Roundy, an Art Foundations Teacher at North Davis Preparatory Academy ( http://www.northdavisprep.org/).

"This conference is designed to model the collaborative process of arts integration," said Tamara Goldbogen, conference organizer and Beverley Taylor Sorenson Endowed Chair for Arts Learning at Weber State University. "By using the Utah Core Standards as a touchstone, we will offer educators strategies for using the arts as a powerful teaching tool in their classrooms. We believe this kind of experiential professional development model will provide educators with new ways to get their students excited about learning and the world around them," said Goldbogen.

The conference is open to the public. Classroom teachers, administrators, community members and students are especially encouraged to attend. The registration fee is $10, which includes a continental breakfast, lunch, conference materials and parking.
