Six Approaches to Improve Flexibility of Product Design with ZW3D

GUANGZHOU, China--(Business Wire)-- ZW3D, one of the world's leading suppliers of advanced CAD/CAM solutions for the manufacturing industry, has released a CAD/CAM white paper to discuss practical approaches for product design, bringing better products with shorter time-to-market.

With user experience becoming a major talking point, the marketability of products relies on not just usability but also aesthetics. Customers prefer products with eye-catching shapes, leaving product designers with more challenges than ever. They are constantly seeking for solutions to maximize the flexibility of product design process, in a bid to conceptualize and realize even their craziest ideas.

Empowered by a unique OverdriveTM kernel, ZW3D CAD/CAM offers designers the following six approaches to turn their creative insights into tangible products.

Sketch Flexibility

With “Ready Sketch”, ZW3D’s built-in sketching library, standard parts can be sketched with a few clicks. As for not so commonly-used sketches, they can be generated in seconds with the equation curve. Plus, adjustments can be made by drag & drop operations.

Modeling Flexibility

Previously, designers were trained to apply different modeling commands to surfaces and models separately. ZW3D’s unique Solid-Surface Hybrid Modeling technology, however, eliminates this barrier. It delivers much more user-friendly experience and more flexibility in creating 3D models, since the Boolean operation works for both solid and surface geometries.

High-quality Surface

Generally, to create products with the best surfaces, continuous curves and surfaces is essential. In ZW3D, surfaces can be generated from continuous curves. Furthermore, curvature tools help improve the quality of the curves and surfaces during the operation.

Assembly Modeling

Flexible assembly design can meet different needs of designers. ZW3D supports not only Bottom-up assembly design but also Top-down assembly deign. Both the design of independent parts and the update of associative parts can be done easily in ZW3D.

Editing Flexibility

With parametric modeling and Direct Edit tools in ZW3D, designers can adjust models easily and quickly at every stage of product design.

Documentation

Both 2D and 3D documentation is supported by ZW3D: 2D documentation can be achieved with 2D drafting, while models can also be shown three-dimensionally in PDF documents without 3D software.
